Aldi has issued an urgent warning to shoppers who have recently bought its garden furniture, including the hanging egg chair and rattan corner sofa set.
The budget supermarket has been made aware of a safety issue regarding the cushion covers, supplied as part of its garden furniture range, and sold between February and April.
‘As a precautionary measure, we are sending replacement cushion covers to all customers who have purchased the following garden furniture products between 13th February 2022 and 20th April 2022 only,’ Aldi said in a statement.
‘Our supplier has advised that the cushion covers’ fire-retardant effectiveness may deteriorate over time. All affected customers should dispose of the current cushion covers and await their free replacement covers. The cushion and all other parts of the products are safe to use without the cushion covers.’

To reiterate, this only impacts products purchased between 13th February and 20th April 2022, and the cushion covers are the only items that should be disposed of, all other furniture and accessories are safe to use.
‘We can reassure you the products are safe to use without the cushion covers and with the cushion which is not impacted,’ the retailer confirmed.
How do I get a replacement?
If you have purchased these products in store, you are asked to contact Aldi’s Customer Service team on 0800 042 0800 (UK) and 1800 991 828 (Ireland) to arrange delivery of replacement cushion covers.
If you have purchased the products online in the UK, you will be contacted via email and automatically sent replacement cushion covers.
