When a younger loved ones of 4 preferred to rework their second household — an early-1800s stone colonial tucked on a pastoral stretch of land in New Hope — into a modern-day English region-inspired retreat, they turned to Vestige Dwelling. It was a fantastic pairing: The East Falls-primarily based inside style and design business finds inspiration in mother nature and heritage, and the 5-bed room, five-and-a-fifty percent-bathtub retreat brimmed with equally.

“One of the items we appreciate is figuring out how to get the historic context of an more mature house and make it experience relevant for today,” suggests principal designer and CEO Nicole Cole. “And the scenery there is so stunning. It is extremely magical.”

The clients wanted to update the household — which had been expanded in 1997 — with out embarking on a major development job, so Cole’s design and style highlighted the authentic character of the dwelling. In this article, uncomplicated, traditional components (like Windsor-encouraged chairs and peg rails) are mixed with modern lines, tremendous-saturated hues, and tons of abundant texture and sculptural lights. The finished products is a serene escape from city lifestyle and a timeless blend of previous and present.

Dining place

Cole selected the massive bay window, which overlooks a pond, as the space’s focal point. “With the lights in the eating home, it feels so tranquil and welcoming. We didn’t need a lot of decor to do that,” she suggests. Black Windsor-motivated chairs lend a historic feel, and a rustic trestle desk expands to seat 12 for big family gatherings. An heirloom mantel clock sits atop the fire, which Cole experienced painted in Benjamin Moore’s Mediterranean Teal.

Toilet

In lieu of common vanity storage, Cole sourced an antique cupboard, which pops versus deep charcoal grey trim (Iron Ore by Sherwin-Williams).

Daughter’s bed room

The antique bed was a fortunate Instagram score for Cole she had it custom-painted to suit the house.

Dwelling room

Cole blended formality and flair with a pair of personalized sofas, mismatched espresso tables, a mid-century-fashion brass light fixture, and a moody purply-brown paint (London Clay by Farrow & Ball) for the original hearth. “It feels calming and serene but intriguing,” she says.
