Jeanne “Jan” Knight Wentling

FALMOUTH – Jeanne “Jan” Knight Wentling, 75, died peacefully in her snooze on Thursday, Nov. 17, 2022, at dwelling in her bed with adore and mild comforting her.

Jan was born to Richard N. and Ann (Philbrick) Knight, on Aug. 1, 1947, in Philadelphia, Pa. She experienced two brothers, Richard Newman and John Philbrick. Rising up, Jan attended Agnes Irwin College in which she located her enjoy of lacrosse and industry hockey, in which she was an All-American. Jan went on to research interior structure at Bradford College or university and graduated from University of Denver wherever she achieved the adore of her everyday living, Joseph “Joe” D. Wentling III. They were married in Bryn Mawr, Pa. on June 13, 1970 and moved there soon following to start their daily life together.

Jan’s appreciate of artwork and elegance blended into a lifestyle-very long appreciate of horticulture and structure. She examined at Longwood Gardens and the Barnes Foundation in Pennsylvania, establishing her really like for landscape structure and flower arranging. A member of yard golf equipment wherever she lived, Jan also begun a tiny landscape style organization in each Pennsylvania and Maine. She appreciated volunteering her time, such as many years of volunteer get the job done at Paoli Memorial Hospital as properly as altar guilds and flower arranging for the various church buildings she belonged to. Jan was an avid skier, dancer, and golfer and was proud of her two hole-in-ones! She cherished touring and getting the gardens wherever she was in the planet.

Jan summered on Chebeague Island at her lengthy-time spouse and children summer household where by she designed lifelong friendships. In 2007, Jan and Joe moved permanently to Pownal to be closer to their little ones, grandchildren and the Island. Her remaining years were used as a resident at OceanView in Falmouth. The personnel and her shut close friends there became a next loved ones to Jan that she looked forward to looking at each day. She taught us all to search for, come across and create pleasure and sunshine.

Predeceased by her adoring spouse Joe, Jan is survived by daughter, Polly Fisk Wentling Wentworth (Kevin) of Chebeague Island, son, Benjamin Crouse Wentling (Leah) of Cumberland four grandchildren, Alden, Olivia, Clara and Amelia brothers Richard N. Knight III (Lynne), John P. Knight (Yvonne) and eight nieces and nephews. Funeral support will be held on Saturday, Dec. 10 at 2 p.m. at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, 43 Foreside Rd., Falmouth, ME 04105 with a reception to be held immediately afterward at the church. There will be a memorial company and spreading of ashes on Aug. 5, 2023 on Chebeague Island.
